本作は、テレビ番組でコミック的な外見をしたスーパーヒーローの実写作品が成功できるかが疑問視される時代に成功を収め、『THE FLASH/フラッシュ』や『レジェンド・オブ・トゥモロー』などの派生作品を多数生み出し、「アローバース」と呼ばれるシェアード・ユニバースを形成するに至った。
