映画 大人の見る繪本 生れてはみたけれど
東京の郊外に引っ越してきたばかりのサラリーマン一家の日常を、やんちゃな息子兄弟の視線を通じて皮肉とユーモアたっぷりに見つめ、そこに浮き彫りとなる序列社会の仕組みを痛切に描写。上司のご機嫌取りに走るしがないサラリーマンの悲哀を、斎藤達雄が絶妙の味で好演する一方、子役の突貫小僧も愉快な演技を存分に披露。名匠・小津安二郎監督の初期を代表する傑作サイレント映画に仕上がった。なお、クレジット表記の原作のゼェームス槙は、小津の変名。
小学生の息子兄弟、妻とともに、一家で東京の郊外に引っ越してきたサラリーマンの吉井。早速彼は近くに住む会社の専務宅へご機嫌取りのあいさつに出向く一方、息子兄弟は近所のガキ大将たちと子ども同士で覇権争いを繰り広げ、どこのうちの父ちゃんが一番偉いか言い争う。そんなある日、専務の家でホームムービーの上映会が催され、上司のごますりでおどけたピエロ役に徹する父親の姿を目の当たりにした兄弟は、思わず愕然とする。
