鈴木光司の同名の小説を原作とした1995年のテレビ映画版。 新聞社に勤める浅川和行（高橋克典）は、若者4人が同日同時刻に急死したことに疑問を抱き、なおかつそのうちの1人が自分の姪であったこともあって調査をはじめる。その結果4人が、死の一週間前に箱根に同泊し、そこで1本のビデオをみていたことを知る。おそるおそるみたそのビデオには不気味な映像のあとに「この映像を見た者は、一週間後のこの時間に死ぬ運命にある。死にたくなければ今からいうことを実行せよ。すなわち・・・・・・」という白い文字が浮かび、なんとそこでプッツリとぎれていた。 そのテープを、超能力による恨みの念写であると確信した大学教授の高山竜司（原田芳雄）と共に「死のタイムリミット」におびえながらも、このビデオの真意に迫ってゆく。そこには三十余年以前にさかのぼる、ある母親の残酷かつ奇妙な物語がかくされていた。そのおぞましい怨念はリングのようにつながり、意外な形でくり返されてゆく・・・・・・。
