予期せぬ事態に誰もが困惑する中、人間への感染を防ぐべく奮闘するUSAMRIIDの研究員ナンシー・ジャックス中佐とそのチーム。しかし状況は確実に悪化の一途をたどり、やがて感染拡大の危機が迫る！ドラマ『グッド・ワイフ』でゴールデン・グローブ賞テレビシリーズ・ドラマ部門主演女優賞に輝くジュリアナ・マルグリーズを主演に迎えた力作。また、スティーブン・スピルバーグ監督の『フック』やフランシス・フォード・コッポラ監督の「ドラキュラ」、ロバート・ゼメキス監督の『コンタクト』を手掛けた名脚本家ジェームズ・V・ハートが、本作のクリエイターとして脚本の執筆にも携わっている。果たして、科学者たちはいかにして「エボラ出血熱」感染パニックのアウトブレイク(勃発)を阻止することが出来たのか？
